Angel Reese’s True Feelings on Chicago Sky Snapping 7-Game Losing Streak

The Chicago Sky hosted the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday, picking up a 92-78 victory behind a stellar performance from rookie Angel Reese.

The rookie recorded 24 points, 12 rebounds and two assists. Reese shot 9-15 from the field and 1-3 from three-point range.

With the victory, the Sky snapped a seven-game losing streak, which was previously the longest drought in the WNBA without a win.

Reese spoke about the massive win for Chicago after the game, mentioning that it’s been a difficult road, but the pressure has been able to help the Sky learn about themselves.

“It hasn’t been easy,” Reese said. “We learned a lot about ourselves. Pressure breaks pipes.”

Before their win over the Sparks, the Sky hadn’t won a game since Aug. 17. Their previous victory was also against the Sparks, defeating the team out West, 90-86.

Since Chicago returned from the WNBA’s break in the season for the Summer Olympics, they’ve gone 2-8 in their last 10 games.

Reese has been far from the problem for the Sky. In that ten-game stretch for Chicago, Reese has recorded a double-double in all but one of those matchups.

Before the game against the Sparks, Chicago’s first-year star was averaging 13.3 points and 13.2 assists per game. She’s the only rookie averaging a double-double and leads the entire WNBA in average rebounds.

Her skill set has helped put the Sky in playoff contention despite Chicago’s downfall.

After a win over the Sparks, they have a 12-22 record and are listed as the No. 8 team in the WNBA standings.
