Tennis icon Serena Williams had a powerful message for Caitlin Clark while speaking in a recent interview.

Clark hasn’t had the easiest time since stepping up to the pros and is finding life in the WNBA difficult to manage.

Williams would be aware of what Clark is going through as she faced something similar during her career. She had some strong words of encouragement for Clark and also commended the way the former Iowa point guard has been handling things so far.

“I love that she tries to stay so grounded,” she said. “She said she doesn’t look at her social (media) and I get it, I don’t either and I think it’s so important to continue to do what she’s doing, no matter what other people do. If people are negative it’s because they can’t do what you do.”

Williams’ comments resonated with lots of fans.

“Serena Williams has proven on more than one occasion to be one of the most reasonable female athletes when it comes to commentary on sports,”

“She’s right. CC is doing what others in the league couldn’t: boosting its popularity in a significant way,” a second noted.

“I don’t know why people find this so hard to believe. There is too much negativity online and the internet is not a real place. If I was famous I would do the same!!!” said a third.

“Serena is absolutely right. I remember the things that were said about her and Venus,” another claimed.
